Rev. Sinnett of Brainerd, MN, "researched" many families and the Guptills are one of them. It appears that he wrote to various people and relied on the veracity of his correspondents. His work was retyped by Virginia T. Merrill of Solon, ME. This manuscript is not available for loan from the University of Maine System Libraries, but can be read there. Its call number is 929.2 G977, location MSL Stacks. The book appears to contain serious errors, mainly with dates, for example, the mother is too old at the time of a child's birth; some relationships are questionable, and some spellings are inconsistent. There is better data to be found elsewhere for some branches but this document should be regarded as a curiosity of yesteryear, not a basis of serious genealogical fact.
The details of the document are not shown in this online extract, which is provided to help individuals researching their Guptill ancestors. There are 597 individuals and 210 families representing 155 surnames in this database.
