Internet Call Waiting

Definition

If you are using a dial-up Internet service (as opposed to cable or ADSL) and you don't have another phone line, an Internet Call Waiting (ICW) service enables you to know if someone is calling your number. With good services, you can choose to take the call or divert it to voicemail.

In Use

My tollfree number supplier is RingCentral, based in San Mateo, CA. What makes their offering better is that you get more than "just a phone number". It is also your fax number and cell phone number. You give out just one number to your contacts. I use my toll-free number mainly as an an answering service and I get all my messages as attachments to email.
